Clearing of traditional site for Treaty 5 Centennial Commemoration underway
The development of the site for the Treaty 5 Centennial Commemoration began today.
The clearing of the site, located in the Ghost Point area, will host the historical 100-year commemoration event in June 2010.
The site, condensed with trees and bush, is located behind the grounds that is home to many community events, including the annual Muddy Water Music Festival and Treaty Days.
Community elders blessed the site and offered prayers yesterday.

Celebrating Grade 8 Graduates
Graduates from Grade 8 at Thomas Fiddler Memorial High School received their diplomas on Friday as another school year came to a close.
Grade 8 teachers Lino Ramos and Don Matthews handed out a total of 29 diplomas to 21 boys and 8 girls. Also on hand to congratulate the class of 2009 were Sandy Lake Board of Education board members and Councillor (Education portfolio) Russell Kakepetum.
This year's graduation ceremony was conducted at the radio station and broadcast live.

Please be advised that the Band Office will be closed on Monday, June 22nd for National Aboriginal Day.
Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, June 23rd at 9:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time).
Treaty Days and Payments & Band Office Closure
This is a reminder that treaty payments will be on Tuesday, June 9th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, June 10th from 9:00 am to 12 noon.
Treaty Days will start on Thursday, June 11th until Saturday June 13th at the Treaty Grounds Site. Please note that Treaty Days will not be held on the same days as the treaty payments.
