Women's Broomball takes B-Side Championship in Sioux Lookout
Congratulations to the Blazing Archers for winning the B-Side championship at the 9th Annual Sioux Lookout Women's Broomball Tournament.
The Blazing Archers competed against several other women's broomball teams from First Nation communities in the three-day tournament. The Blazing Archers is a combination of Sandy Lake's two women's broomball teams, the Sandy Lake Blazing Warriors and the Sandy Lake Archers.

Brighter Futures hosting 2nd Annual Youth Conference
Sandy Lake's youth will be gathering for the 2nd annual youth conference scheduled for April 21 and 22nd.
The Brighter Futures Program is hosting the conference which will feature workshops and seminars targeting priority youth issues in the community.
The conference will also feature entertainment with special guests Scott Ward, an aboriginal hypnotist, and Monique Hurteau, a Metis stand-up comedian.

Mervin Meekis Memorial Sobriety Walk
Family members of the late Mervin Meekis and several community members walked 13km from the sandpit on Monday, April 13th.
The walk is an annual event to honour the memory of Mervin who passed away tragically in 2001. The family invites the community to participate in the walk to promote sobriety and healthy living for Sandy Lake.
