The results of Sandy Lake First Nation's General Band Election from March 28, 2008:

General Band Election 2008
NOTICE TO SANDY LAKE BAND MEMBERS
Sandy Lake is having a general election for the positions of Chief and Council for the 2008-2010 term. The Elders Council will also be elected at this time.
The election will take place Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Corporation board room. Polls open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (Sandy Lake time).
There are no advanced polls for this election. Off-Reserve band members can phone in their votes by calling the toll free phone # 1-866-450-8399 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.
All eligible voters must be registered Sandy Lake band members 18 years of age and older.

Update on the Derek Kakegamic Memorial Hockey Tournament February 20-23, 2008
Look for the advertisement of the tournament in Wawatay News.
Also, tune in to Wawatay Radio to hear the live broadcast of Friday and Saturday games!
There have been inquiries as to what kind of surface the games will be played on. The tournament will be at the Sandy Lake indoor Arena where artificial ice is used.
And finally, a C-Side Division has been added. Look below to see the prizes.

Entry Fee is $2,000.00 per team
A-SIDE Championship prize is $20,000.00
A-SIDE Runner-Ups is $10,000.00
B-SIDE Consolation prize is $5,000.00
B-SIDE Runner-Ups is $3,000.00
C-SIDE Consolation is $2,000.00
C-SIDE Runner-Ups is $1,000.00

Halloween Bash 2007
It was one spook-tacular time at the elementary school on the eve of Halloween in Sandy Lake.
The Recreation Department hosted another great event for Sandy Lake's scariest and funniest. There were lots of prizes, games, dancing and contests. The top 8 costumes scored cash prizes and other great prizes thanks to the many sponsors from the community.
