Sandy Lake at Little Bands Hockey Tournament
Congratulations to the Sandy Lake hockey teams who participated and competed in the Little Bands Hockey Tournament last week in Sioux Lookout.
Capturing the A-Side Championship in the bantam division was the Sandy Lake Jr. Riverhawks. The Jr. Riverhawks ranked 1st in their division with 4 wins and 0 losses. The Jr. Riverhawks beat the Webequie Young Warriors for the bantam championship with a final score of 4-2.
The Sandy Lake Knights, also in the bantam division, made it to the B-Side Championship but were defeated by K.I.
The Sandy Lake Young Gunz lost the A-Side Championship in the midget division after a close game to Lac Seul. The final score was 5-4.
A special mention to all of Sandy Lake's young hockey players who participated and competed in this year's Little Bands Tournament. These young people have shown their commitment and dedication to the sport throughout the year and continue to have the support and encouragement to participate in such events from the community of Sandy Lake and their family and friends.
It is only a matter of years before these young hockey stars take their skills to the highly-anticipated annual March Break men's hockey tournament in Sioux Lookout.
A big thank you to all the hockey parents, volunteers,coaches, and sponsors who have worked tirelessly over the months to make this possible.
