Results of the Membership Code Referendum
A community referendum was held for the proposed changes to the Sandy Lake First Nation Membership Code on Friday, May 29, 2015. The Referendum Committee is pleased to present the following results:
Total number of votes cast: 558
Total number of spoiled ballots: 4
Total number of votes for YES: 503
Total Number of votes for NO: 51
The percentage required for the membership code proposed changes to pass is 50% plus 1 (one) of the total number of votes cast.
The membership code, therefore, has gained 90% of those who voted in the referendum.
The Referendum Committee acknowledges the trust that the leadership placed on the committee to do this important piece of work on community governance.
